"Chto? Gde? Kogda?"
This site is discussing a quiz game called "What? Where? When?" (or "Chto? Gde? Kogda?" in Russian)
The game was originally born in Russia in the middle of 70-ies, as a TV show, where a team of 6 players was answering the questions sent in by a TV audience. The difference between this show and well known quiz games like "Trivial persuit", "Jeopardy", "College bowl", etc. is the kind of questions asked - they aren't just trivia questions, i.e. questions that require pure knowledge to answer. The "Chto? Gde? Kogda?" questions are designed to allow the players to discover an answer they might not know before the question is asked. The players may use the facts provided in the question as well as their own knowledge, their common logic, even their sense of humour. Most important, the team has about a minute to brainstorm the question before they have to give an answer.
